Discover the most romantic journeys of Scotland with a ride on the fastest mountain railway in the country, a preserved line plus two scenically superb Scotrail routes. All this plus a cruise on the infamous Loch Ness.

Day 1

Morning collection from home to join the coach for the drive north, to arrive at our overnight hotel in time for dinner.


Day 2

Today we continue north through the Lowland Hills past Glasgow to Stirling, Perth and Pitlochry arriving late afternoon at Highlander Hotel, Newtonmore for our 5 nights stay dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 3

Loch Ness is the destination today. Travel through unspoilt scenery past Loch Mhor and along Stratherrick to Fort Augustus. Whilst here, there is time to obtain lunch and enjoy a cruise on Loch Ness, with commentary on board 'The Royal Scot' from the Caledonian Canal. Later leave Fort Augustus and head north overlooking the loch towards Inverness before heading back to Newtonmore.

Day 4

After breakfast, travel north to Inverness to join the Scotrail train for one of the Great Railway Journeys of the World - the line to Kyle of Lochalsh. The route journeys through unbeatable scenery, skirting lochs and passing remote villages. After a break in Kyle of Lochalsh, enjoy the return ride, this time by road, back to the hotel.

Day 5

Today's excursion heads south west to Fort William. Enjoy another train journey, this time the celebrated West Highland Line to Mallaig. This spectacular line passes hidden lochs and inlets, silver sands and crosses the magnificent Glenfinnan viaduct on its way west. Mallaig is a major fishing port and there is time to wander around the harbour and explore before catching the train for the return journey to Fort William.

Day 6

Travel to Aviemore where there will be free time for a break before heading into the beautiful Glenmore Forest Park. This afternoon, ride on the Strathspey Railway from Aviemore to Boat of Garten and Broomhill.

Day 7

Sadly depart Newtonmore and the Highlands to retrace the journey south towards Perth, before heading across the Forth and skirting Edinburgh on the way towards northern England for an overnight stop with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 8

After breakfast, depart the hotel to arrive back in East Anglia by mid evening where the door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
