This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. D day 6th June 1944 was a momentous day in history and to commemorate what was one of the major turning points of World War II, take a very special guided tour of the Normandy beachheads.

Day 1

Following collection from home, travel to Portsmouth to begin the tour with the D Day Story. Find out how an English army crossed the channel to France to face a well armed and well trained enemy. The D-Day Story tells the personal accounts of those who were there through stunning audio-visual presentations and iconic objects from the museum's collection. Next, follow the route taken by soldiers, sailors and airmen involved in Operation Overlord, crossing the English Channel by ferry from the D Day port of Portsmouth (food will be available to purchase onboard). On arrival in Ouistreham, travel to the Ibis Hotel in Caen for the four night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2

The first full day touring the Normandy battlefields begins at the Western flank of the landings visiting the US Sector. Visit the German Cemetery at la Cambe, The US Airborne Drop Zones around St Mer Eglise, Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach.

Day 3

Travel further back in time today with a drive into nearby Bayeux for a visit to the famous Bayeux Tapestry and enjoy free time exploring this beautiful medieval town. In the afternoon return to 1944, visiting the CWGC in Bayeux, the German Coastal Battery at Longues sur Mer and Juno Beach.

Day 4

Today's itinerary begins with the dramatic events surrounding the British Airborne landings and follow the Suffolk Regiment inland from Sword Beach. In the morning, visit Pegasus Bridge, the Pegasus Museum, Café Gondree and Merville Battery. Later in the day discover Sword Beach and follow the Suffolks onto their objective at the Hillman Bunker.

Day 5

After breakfast, head to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission before travelling to Calais to board the ferry to Dover. On arrival in East Anglia, the door to door collection service will be waiting to return you home.
