The Isle of Man, despite only being a short distance from the British Mainland, has a rich folklore and unique culture developed over hundreds of years. The island is not heavily populated and enjoys a mild climate, making it a popular destination. Douglas, the capital, is the main shopping centre and an ideal base to discover more of this attractive island, from wooden glens and heather clad hills to rocky headlands and secluded coves.

Day 1

Following collection from home, head to Heysham for the afternoon sailing to the Isle of Man. On arrival, continue to the Rutland Hotel for a four night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2 (Aug)

Take a tour with a local guide to the south of the island, visiting first the ancient capital of Castletown with its wonderfully preserved Castle Rushen. Continue to the south west corner and Cregneash Village Folk Museum where the amusing film 'Waking Ned' was set. Nearby are wonderful views around Calf Sound and the village of Port Erin, nestling in its scenic bay.

Day 3 (Aug)

A free day in Douglas to relax and explore the town. Take a stroll along the promenade, browse the shops or just sit and watch the world go by.

Day 4 (Aug)

Enjoy an excursion with a local guide and follow the Isle of Man's famous TT course to Ramsey. Board the Manx Electric Railway to Laxey and enjoy a return ride on the Snaefell Mountain Railway, a spectacular climb to the island's highest point at 2,036ft, before returning to Douglas.

Day 5

Depart after breakfast and return to the harbour for the crossing to Heysham, continuing back to East Anglia where the door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
